Paul Mitchell Color Charts

Paul Mitchell professional hair color is made by John Paul Mitchell Systems, the company Paul Mitchell and John Paul DeJoria founded in 1980. The color range covers every service level: The Color, a low-ammonia permanent cream with a beeswax base, Highlift shades, Ultra Toners and a plus series for gray; The Color 10, a permanent that processes in 10 minutes; Color XG, a vegan permanent cream made in Italy with its own CoverSmart gray shades; The Demi, a no-ammonia, neutral pH demi-permanent liquid; and the BLONDE lighteners. Shades are named with a level number and family letters, so 6NB reads as level 6 Neutral Beige, and a plus sign marks gray coverage shades such as 5N+. Color XG and The Demi also print a dual number code, for example 6GB (6/37) in Color XG. Older client records may still list PM Shines or Pop XG, which are discontinued. Stylists know the brand for its long, intermixable Demi palette and for its stand against animal testing since the company began.
